On September 11th, the Historical Society of Hopkins County will have their annual picnic. It will be at the historic Porter home just west of Manitou on 41A beginning at 5p.m. Meat and drinks are provided by the Society. Attending members should bring a vegetable dish, a salad, or a dessert. Tommy and Kathleen will give us a tour of their home and we’ll learn a lot of history, and see some treasures. This meeting is members only. If you have not joined yet, there is still time. Print the form on separate link on this site and mail in with dues or drop by and take it!
The regular monthly meeting of the Historical Society of Hopkins County will be Thursday August 14, 2014, at 6:30 pm at the Museum, 107 Union Street, Madisonville, KY 42431.
Featured speaker for the program, which follows a brief business meeting, is Muhlenberg County’s ArtsLady – Karen Willis portraying Lizzie Borden with history and a little drama. Mrs. Willis is a well known actress and theatre director in this region and the program is sure to be fascinating.
Meetings and programs are open to the public, you do not have to be a member, but we do hope you will consider joining when you enjoy the museum and its programs.
