The Life and Times of Dixie Logan will be shared by Horace Cox Jan 14 at 6:30 pm after the regular brief monthly meeting.
Members – Life or Annual with 2016 dues paid may pick up their annual yearbook.
June 11 meeting: Picnic at Historic Home
June 11 at 5 pm the Society members will convene at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Lynn Leigh, 533 Gordon Avenue, Madisonville for a potluck picnic and tour. Some special announcements will be made but no business meeting will be held.
The house built in 1824 and featured in the book 86 Madisonville Historic Homes by Jane Ann Jackson was home to three generations of Gordons including in the 1960’s U.S. District Judge James Fleming
• The Historical Society of Hopkins County will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. May 14 at the museum located at 107 Union St. This month’s speaker will be Muhlenberg County historian Barry Duvall who will speak about “The History of Muhlenberg County as Seen through the Eyes of its Early Historians.”
VP Randy Teague will present some video recordings of society events from the past and since HSHC has turned 41, some of the pictures, people, hairdos etc will be very different. The public is invited to attend the 6:30 pm meeting and program.
Featuring the 2015 publication of “Some Women of Note in Hopkins County” compiled by Judy B. Adkins. Member Debby Allen will share highlights from the book and a brief History of a Woman’s Club of Madisonville.
