August 8 Meeting, Field Trip & Potluck

Historical Society monthly meeting in August will be a field trip and potluck at the Keenan Carver Historic Home at 325 George Oakley Road, Slaughters Kentucky.

Known as “The Old Brown Home” it was built before the Civil War and remodeled after 1961 by Mr. & Mrs. Curtis Carver.

Carpool and caravan of cars will leave Historical Society museum at 107 Union Street, Madisonville at 5:00 pm.
Call the Museum at 270-821-3986 to get directions and let them know how many are coming.  Supper to start at 5:30 pm with house tour immediately following.
Meat, bread, drinks and paper goods will be provided.  Please bring salad, vegetables or desserts to share.  Thank you.

April 11 Historical Society Meeting will feature William Turner & Allysa Keller

The April 11 Meeting of Historical Society of Hopkins County at 7 pm at the Museum on Union Street

will feature Christian County Historical Society speakers William Turner & Allysa Keller.

Inventory of museum items is on going and volunteers are needed.

Thursday July 14 Dempsey House tour

Historical Society of Hopkins County will meet Thursday July 14 at 7 pm for a short business meeting.  Then members will be invited to walk across and down the street to the Norman/Parrott house – former Dempsey House– at 124 Union Street for a brief tour.

Plan ahead to attend “I Love Hanson Days” July 15 & 16,  and perhaps volunteer as the Historical Society will have a booth to sell books.

August 25 will be a joint meeting with the Genealogical Society of Hopkins County and it will feature guest speaker Justice Bill Cunningham, author of  The Castle and several other Kentucky books.
